Should You Seal Your Pavers? A Homeowner's Guide
Brick pavers add beauty and value to any driveway or pool deck. But in the harsh Florida climate, they can fade, stain, and become overrun with weeds if not protected.
Why Sealing Matters
Sealing your pavers is like waxing your car. It provides a protective barrier against:
- UV Rays: Prevents color fading.
- Stains: Stops oil, grease, and rust from penetrating the porous brick.
- Weeds & Ants: Sealing locks the joint sand in place, making it hard for weeds to grow or ants to build mounds.
Wet Look vs. Natural Look
Modern sealers come in different finishes. "Wet look" enhances the colors and gives a glossy shine, while "Natural look" provides protection without changing the appearance. Most homeowners prefer a satin or wet look to make the colors pop!
How Often?
In Florida, we recommend resealing every 2-3 years depending on the exposure to sun and rain.
